San Antonio!
Last weekend I got to go to San Antonio with my friend Anna! It was so awesome. We drove down Friday and I spent the evening/night/morning with her and her wonderful parents. You know those people in your life that you just wish everyone else in your life could get to know? People that you just absolutely love to be around and there's never enough time together? That's the Kwiatkowskis. Good luck pronouncing it :) But seriously. These people just rock. Friday was Anna's birthday, so we got to feast on some awesome homemade red velvet cake!
The reason I went to San Antonio was because the Mark Swayze band was getting back from their 2 week East Coast Tour! You should read their blog about it! Mark Swayze band is an awesome contemporary worship band with a heart set on God. Check them out on iTunes :) I love every person in this band, but I am a little biased for the drummer because he happens to be my boyfriend :) So I came to San Antonio to be there when they got home! It was really awesome to get to spend the weekend with Callen and go to church at University UMC. I also got to take some pictures of the band!

(Sadly, Alison wasn't in San Antonio on Sunday. She was pretty ready to be home with her family!)
So happy to have Callen back in Texas :)
I'll leave you with these:
Life of Pi
My all-time favorite book is Life of Pi by Yann Martel. It is a beautiful story. I read it a few years ago and still go back often to turn through the pages and re-read certain passages! I recently got it out again because there is now a movie based on it that will come out in November! I am so excited!! I highly recommend the book and based on the trailer, the movie will also be wonderful. Basically, it is about a young indian boy, Pi, who's family owns a zoo in Pondicherry. His parents decide to move the zoo to america on a ship, but the ship sinks and he ends up on a life boat with a tiger, a hyena, an orangutan and a zebra! It's an awesome story. My favorite passage in the book is shortly after Pi is first told the story of Christ's death and he puts it in his perspective as the child of a zoo keeper:
"And what a story. The first thing that drew me in was disbelief. What? Humanity sins but it's God's Son who pays the price? I tried to imagine Father saying to me, 'Piscine, a lion slipped in to the llama pen today and killed two llamas. Yesterday another one killed a black buck. Last week two of them ate the camel. The week before it was the painted storks and grey herons. And who's to say for sure who snacked on our golden agouti? The situation has become intolerable. Something must be done. I have decided that the only way the lions can atone for their sins is if I feed you to them.'
'Yes, Father, that would be the right and logical thing to do. Give me a moment to wash up.'
'Hallelujah, my son.'
'Hallelujah, Father.'"
Wow. Every time I read that it just blows my mind. What a beautiful description of the sacrifice He made for us! This book is full of moments where you just have to stop, put the book down and think. I love it!
Maybe tomorrow I'll get around to doing a post with pictures from the last few weeks.
God is good.

Barton Springs
The other day, my parents picked me up from my dorm and took me to Barton Springs so I could spend time with my sweet puppy that I missed oh so much!! It was wonderful getting to see him. Here is a photo dump of how adorable he is.

College!
Klub Kool Aid
The day after I moved in, Callen and I drove up to Waco for a thing called Klub Kool Aid! It was such a blast. It was put on by Zeta Zigga Zamma, a Christian social organization that is an alternative to Greek Fraternities at Baylor. Klub Kool Aid is a huge dance party they host at the Dr. Pepper museum where they serve Kool Aid on tap! It was extremely fun and to make it even better, Callen wore his dog suit that we got at goodwill last year. Sadly, I didn't get any pictures at the party, but we stopped by Wendy's right before and got some weird looks...
Game Day
On Saturday I got to go tailgating with some of my friends from San Antonio and it was so fun! I absolutely love these girls and tailgating with them was a blast! We went to a tailgate hosted by BYX, a Christian fraternity. It was fun hanging out with people I had met from Ignite and meet some new people. After that, my friends headed off to the stadium and I met my parents at the Alumni Center to watch the game (my parents don't get Longhorn Network at our house so they had to trek down here for it). It was really fun seeing them again and showing them around campus a little bit after the game!

Old Friends and New Friends
On Sunday, my best friend Emily came back to Austin from College Station. It was so awesome to see her! We got to go out to dinner and walk around campus a little bit. After that we got to facetime with our friend Katie, who is in Arkansas as U of Ark! It was really great having the three of us together again (even if it was virtual) and I can't wait until next time we all get together in real life! I have had a nice transition in to college because I wasn't super good friends with anyone when I started so I've gotten to know a lot of people better! I've loved hanging out with Hannah and Regan and getting to know some of the girls in my art classes. On Wednesday I got to meet some of the girls that will be in my younglife bible study for the next few years and I can't believe how quickly we all clicked! We were all "instant bffs." I am so excited for what God will do through these girls.
